Regulation and Public Policies to Foster Bitcoin Adoption and Corporate Investment
Rudy Gallardo, Juan Mayen, Carlos Miguel Rivas Carrillo, Christian Betancourt

On September 7, 2021, El Salvador made Bitcoin legal tender. This status is under threat from organizations seeking to revoke it, alongside potential regulatory misunderstandings that could stifle innovation. To counter this, we must create open environments for discussing Bitcoin's capabilities, emphasizing that its adoption serves the greater good. Collaboration among lawyers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers is essential for Bitcoin's survival and fostering innovation. While some jurisdictions attract talent without facing the same regulatory pressures as El Salvador, the spirit of Bitcoin promotes a world of free transactions for all, regardless of beliefs. Regulators, policymakers, and entrepreneurs must work together to address concerns and find compromises that benefit Bitcoin users in El Salvador. This dialogue will highlight both the challenges and opportunities in the evolving regulatory landscape.
