Adopting Bitcoin 2024

Bitcoin Education for the World (with the Node Network)
2024-11-16 , Nakamoto Stage

How to change the World, independently but also together. A panel discussion with project leads and teachers from Zambia (Bitcoin Victoria Falls), Honduras (AmityAge), USA (Operation Bitcoin), South Africa (Bitcoin Ekasi) and Bitcoin Indonesia (Indonesia). They explain how they bring bitcoin education to their local communities, unite in the so-called Node Network, and are all teaching from the same open source resources: the Bitcoin Diploma.

Hermann Vivier (Bitcoin Ekasi), Adam Cowperthwait (Bitcoin Victoria Falls), Fidel Funez (AmityAge), Gabe Lord (Operation Bitcoin) and Bitcoin Indonesia (Indonesia) talk about how they bring Bitcoin Education to their local communities, using the Mi Primer Bitcoin Diploma and how they unite in the so-called Node Network.

Gabe Lord is co-founder and CEO of Operation Bitcoin, a nonprofit on a mission to connect military veterans with Bitcoin through education, community building and skills development.

Gabe is a passionate supporter of veteran initiatives and has discovered Bitcoin is the purpose driven, community centric mission many military veterans are seeking. As a veteran of the forever wars, he and his fellow veterans have seen firsthand the destructive power of the current system, and they are dedicated to bringing about a peaceful revolution to keep our future generations from continuing that cycle.

Hermann Vivier is the co-founder of The Surfer Kids (est. 2010) and founder of Bitcoin Ekasi (est. 2021). Hermann first became interested in Bitcoin in late 2013 as a result of the banking crisis and subsequent bank bailouts in Cyprus. In May 2015 he and his wife adopted Bitcoin as a form of payment. They operate a South African tourism business (Unravel Surf Travel) catering for the Eastern European and Russian markets, and the first Russian-Ukrainian conflict meant that Bitcoin was (in certain cases) the only form of payment available to receive money from their clients. Following the global covid lockdowns and the resulting slump in their tourism business they started looking for ways to become more active in the Bitcoin space. Hermann came across the Bitcoin Beach project in El Salvador in 2019 and started writing for Bitcoin Magazine in January 2021, two events which eventually led to the creation of Bitcoin Ekasi in August 2021.

Director of Communications with My First Bitcoin, also working on international expansion of the open source resources through the so-called Node Network. Rooted in El Salvador, our non-profit reached over 30,000 individuals with bitcoin classes already, and we collaborate with the Ministry of Education to bring Bitcoin Education to every single school in the country. Internationally, MPB inspires individual independent educators to duplicate its success, by taking the Bitcoin Diploma and join the grassroot Node Network, consisting of over 50 projects from 25+ countries.

Adam Cowperthwait is the Co-Founder of Bitcoin Victoria Falls and Founder of Bitcoin Montserrat. After visiting El Zonte in 2022, he was inspired by the Bitcoin Beach project and Ramon Martinez to go out in the world and start his own Bitcoin Circular Economy. He credits persistence and the team at Mi Primer Bitcoin / My First Bitcoin to his initial success. He also wants to thank Humphrey Simwinga, Co-Founder of Bitcoin Victoria Falls for all of his hardwork and dedication to the project.
