Miners4Kids Project – AmityAge Academy
2024-11-16 , Chaum Stage

The Miners4Kids project by AmityAge Academy aims to provide a hands-on experience to the youth of Roatán by directly rewarding them with Bitcoin for their learning efforts. This way kids can start buying, selling, and stacking sats.

I’m very excited to propose a workshop on our latest project, “Miners4Kids”, where we I will be explaining to everyone the project's inception, its intricacies, the challenges we faced, and how other communities and educators can replicate our success.

Our goal is to inject more Bitcoin into the local Roatán economy by distributing satoshis (sats) to teenagers based on their "proof of learning." Each month, the sats mined by the machine we have in our mining farm in Paraguay are divided among the most proactive kids on Roatán, as determined by their learning achievements on the Yzer app.

This is how the idea of Miners4Kids was born.

To achieve this, we aimed to involve both the Bitcoin community and the local Roatán community by encouraging them to crowdfund the electricity needed for a miner. Once the electricity for a particular month is covered, all the Bitcoin mined during that month is donated directly to the kids on Roatán.

We utilize Braiins pool with its Lightning Network (LN) withdrawal option to make payments affordable and Blink Batch payments to distribute the sats to the kids.

AmityAge has donated an S19XP hydro miner, which is mining Bitcoin directly for the kids on Roatán. The mining operation account is transparent and verifiable by the community.

100% of the mining rewards are split among the 30 most active kids on the Yzer app each month. This sats are divided proportionally to their earned XP points to incentivize competition. This way, we believe we can inject more Bitcoin into the community and jumpstart a circular economy.
