Hermann Vivier, co-founder of The Surfer Kids and founder of Bitcoin Ekasi, became interested in Bitcoin in 2013 due to the Cyprus banking crisis. He and his wife adopted Bitcoin for their South African tourism business in 2015. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, they expanded their involvement in the Bitcoin space, leading to the creation of Bitcoin Ekasi in August 2021.

Gerardo is a proud Salvadorian who co-founded Bitcoin Berlín in 2023. Together with Evelyn Lemus he turned the mountain city of Berlín in El Salvador into a Bitcoin hotspot with over 100 merchants accepting Bitcoin which even attracted dozens of foreign Bitcoiners to settle in Berlín.
