Adopting Bitcoin Cape Town

Finding Purpose through the 100 Day Bitcoin Challenge
2024-01-26 , Blink Stage

Looking to do more with Bitcoin and don't know where to start? Take on the '100 Day Challenge' where you'll attempt to enable 1 Bitcoin interaction per day for 100 days. It helped us find purpose within Bitcoin and build a portfolio showing our proof of work.

When I lost my job earlier this year, I knew it was a sign to go into Bitcoin full-time. I didn't know where to start, how to measure success and how to help Bitcoin adoption. My solution? A personal challenge to be the catalyst for 1 Bitcoin interaction per day for 100 days. I defined an interaction as Bitcoin moving addresses between two entities (myself, a friend, a family member, a stranger, etc).

Soon enough I realized sitting in front of my computer wasn't cutting it, I had to get out and take Bitcoin to the people. The 'Bitcoin whiteboard' was born. I wrote different Bitcoin messages hoping to spark conversations on the streets of Calgary.

This was just the beginning, I released my visual notes for free, launched two books, onboarded three businesses, presented why businesses should adopt Bitcoin as a form of payment in local meetups, started a Bitcoin Treasure hunt, and helped 2 farmers DIY their node.

This challenge changed my life. It forced me to get out of my comfort zone, I learned about myself, Bitcoin and how others perceive it. Through the process, I've realized Bitcoin is my ikigai (sense of purpose). To top it off, my wife who had spent a decade in Microsoft selling Azure started viewing the world with an orange lens. Witnessing my journey through the challenge had a profound effect on her.

Now, we are on a Bitcoin pilgrimage around the world to continue learning the Bitcoin way, enable Bitcoin as a form of payment through education, and spark curiosity in one student at a time!
