Call for Presentations

This is the first Apache Airflow Community Summit and we are looking for great speakers who will provide engaging and interesting content for the event.

Date and place

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the best interest for the safety of the Airflow community, we have decided to change the date and format of the Airflow Summit 2020.

Format of the event

The event will now be completely online and the date will be moved to “Summer 2020”. We are working on defining specific format and dates, and will communicate that in the coming weeks.

We are thinking about the exact format of the online - feel free to be creative and propose your own approach for the online format of the event. You can assume that 30 minutes talk with follow up discussion is something that is good starting point, but feel free to propose your own ideas!

Topics of the talks

The topics should be related to Apache Airflow, but we are mostly interested in those:

• Best practices for Apache Airflow usage and deployment- end-2-end use cases
• Best practices for Apache Airflow components (Executors, DAG testing)
• Integrations with Apache Airflow
• When Apache Airflow is good and when it is not - lessons learned from the trenches
• Future of Apache Airflow - what is planned, what might be needed, how to stay relevant in the future
• Apache Airflow Community - how and why it works, Apache Way, how to contribute to the community without being a coder

We are also open to alternative topics related to Apache Airflow, so feel free to propose whatever you think might be relevant for the community.

Non-coding related talks

Following Apache's "Community over code" motto - there will also be non-coding and diverse skilled members of the community who do not only code, but contribute to the overall health and strength of the community - this will be great chance to meet them and see some of the talks. If you have a subject that you would like to submit in that area - you are more than welcome!

Expected attendees

Our attendees will be a healthy mixture of:

• Data scientists
• Data engineers
• Business Intelligence analysts
• DevOps engineers using and running the Apache Airflow
• "to be" users of Apache Airflow - who consider to move from other workflow engines or simply introduce one in their daily job
• Users and developers of products that are built on top of Apache Airflow
• Members of other communities that Apache Airflow Community partners with and collaborates
• Non-coding members of Apache Airflow Community who help the community to thrive

Code of Conduct

Apache Airflow Summit is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled, at the discretion of the event organizers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, unwanted photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

Sexual language and imagery will not be tolerated in any event venue, including talks. Exhibitors should also refrain from using sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes or otherwise create a sexualized environment.

If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event without a refund. We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and related social events.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the event team immediately. The team can be found at the registration desk.

The event team will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security (as available) or local law enforcement, provide escorts to walk you to/from your room/car/taxi/etc, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.
