Call for Participation

Arch Linux is an independent community-run Linux distribution. The target audience are intermediate users with a do-it-yourself attitude.

Arch Conf was first held in 2010, and a second iteration was held in 2019, where Arch members came together for a two-day problem-solving work session. This year we sadly cannot hold any in-person conference. To remedy this, we intend to hold a two-day online conference for the Arch community instead.

The goal is to have an even split between talks surrounding the Arch Linux distribution, and talks from the larger free and open source software community.

Conference date: 10th - 11th of October

Submission deadline: 18th of September

Video submission deadline: 5th of October

Where: Online!

Topics

Though we invite proposals on any FLOSS related subject, we have some broad topics that we encourage people to submit proposals for:

  • Derivative distributions
  • Build systems
  • Infrastructure and deployment
  • Reproducible Builds
  • Supply-chain security
  • Packaging

If you have an idea for a talk, but are unsure if it's suitable, do not hesitate to reach out to the team!

Talk Formats

  • Talks - 45 Minutes (30 minutes + 15 min questions & answers if you want)
  • Lightning talks - 10-20 minutes

Currently we are planning for these two types of formats. However, if you have suggestions for alternative formats, please get in touch with the team!

Streaming

The conference is going to be streamed with the help of the Chaos Computer Club VOC, and possibly will be re-streamed to other platforms as well.

Submission guidelines

All talks should be prerecorded and submitted to archconf@archlinux.org no less than 7 days before the beginning of the conference. They should be recorded as an MP4 file with a resolution of 1920x1080 if possible. Overlays for the conference setup that you can use are available at https://conf.archlinux.org/pages/recording/

Code of conduct

Our event is covered by a code of conduct designed to ensure everybody’s safety and comfort. The code applies to all attendees, including speakers and the contents of their presentations. Do not hesitate to contact us at archconf@archlinux.org if you have any questions or are unsure about certain subjects that you would like to present.
