Call for Papers!

We believe in collaboration, participation, and the exchange of ideas. That's why we encourage all Big Data Open Source enthusiasts to submit ideas for talks, workshops, discussions, lightning talks, ask me anything sessions, and more. Topics in previous years have included Large Data Processing, NoSQL, IR/Search, AI/Machine Learning, Data Science, search relevance, and much more. We also encourage you to submit abstracts on topics not specifically listed. Not sure if your session is a good fit? We're here for you! What we offer

Being a speaker at Berlin Buzzwords is a great opportunity to share your knowledge and experiences with fellow attendees. It is a great way to develop your ideas and get feedback from an engaged audience. Speaking at Berlin Buzzwords helps you gain experience on stage which you can reference as we record each session and publish them on Youtube. Speakers at Berlin Buzzwords get full access to all conference days.

What and who we are looking for

We want to encourage everybody who is willing and able to speak about a Big Data open source projects in the field of searching, streaming, storing and scaling. We take everybody quite literally: Don’t let inexperience, age, gender, race or any other “difference” hold you back! Everybody has to start somewhere and at Buzzwords, you will have the opportunity to meet many great potential mentors. We also believe that the more diverse people’s backgrounds and stories, the more creative, productive, innovative, original, and diverse the outcome is. This is why we want you to take part.

If you are an engineer, data scientist, data architect, or otherwise interested in the Big Data Open Source community, do not hesitate and join us! We want you to speak at our awesome conference!

Topics

Berlin Buzzwords is looking for sessions on but not limited to:

  • Search / IR systems – Lucene, Solr, Elasticsearch or comparable solutions
  • NoSQL – like Apache Cassandra, Flink, MongoDB, Hbase, CouchDB and others
  • Large Data Processing – Hadoop itself, MapReduce, Cascading etc.
  • Streaming topics such as Apache Flink or Apache Kafka
  • Scale and Store, Distribution of containerized applications (e.g. Kubernetes or Docker)
  • AI and Machine Learning topics
  • Search releveance and e-commerce search
  • Topics on open source communities and management

Selection process

The review and evaluation process is anonymized. Members of the program committee are unable to view your name or any other personal information given in your speaker profile so as to avoid unconscious bias.

The submission deadline is February 14th, 2022 at 23:59 CET.
