A Talk about how to cheaply make an ADS-B rig to receive airplane locations and a free $500 a year subscription to flightradar24.com
In this talk I'll give a brief description of how to flash a raspberry pi 3b+ with the flight radar raspbian firmware, hook up an RTL-SDR, and a aliexpress / homebrew antenna with the intent of receiving 1090MHz signals that aircraft transmit with their location data, speed, altitude, destination, and home port. Submitting this data to Flightradar24.com also gives you a $500 a year business plan which lets you track aircraft globally, and gives you real time weather data from airports.
