, Track 2
The term CTI brings joy and dread to the community. Some think it's all about the technical detail, while others think it's a high level abstract analysis narrative about APTs; both are convinced they're right, and they are...in part! I propose it's a process and approach that needs teamwork!
This talk will build on 10 years experience of military intelligence and 8 years working with in technology/security sector .
CTI seems to be one of the most misused terms and misunderstood areas of the wider information and cyber security industry.
However, intelligence and it's management are not new; governments, armed forces and intelligence agencies around the world have been engaged in these activities for a long time.
Many great organisations exist today trying to advance and professionalise this area of cyber, but it remains much less mature than most. I believe this is in part due to a combination of ego and secrecy.
This talk aim to take things back to basics, drawing on the intelligence cycle to de-mystify the wider process and inform on how you might refocus efforts to get the most from CTI.
