BSides Cape Town 2024

BSides Cape Town 2024 - Beyond Barriers

Below is some further info on our CFP!

Our theme for this year is Beyond Barriers.
We would love talks that fit this theme. It is recommended but not necessary. In the past we have seen a decent amount of devs/DevOps people so code-heavy talks are also most welcome!

Talk/Workshop format and Session Types

Talk formats (Selected under Session Type)

We have 5 Session Types

95% of you will be aiming for a Standard Talk, and below are the details

Standard Talk: / 45 minutes

This is the usual kind of talk most people submit. This time includes opportunities for questions.

Short Talk / 30 minutes

Like a standard talk, but most likely shorter.

Lightning Talk / 10-15 minutes

Here is your brief chance to cover a thought, subject or perhaps gain support for a project you are working on. You have 15min, make it count!

Workshop / 4 hours

We are doing long-form workshops on Friday. We set it at 4 hours per workshop. Shorter or longer slots are available if needed. This year we want to do a bunch of Workshops, most likely on 6 December 2024.

Keynote / 45 minutes

We are honoured to consider keynotes from every corner of the planet, including right here at home. Keynote is hidden from the public, so get in touch with the team or email us on the address below for the code to submit.

Support and what you get

If you become a speaker or workshopper for BSides Cape Town 2024, we will comp you with a full swag ticket. That being said, while we do our best to accommodate speakers from other parts of the country, and internationally, BSides Cape Town generally does not have huge resources to financially assist speakers with travel and accommodation arrangements. You will most likely need to make your own arrangements to attend the conference. We may be able to get some special rates from the adjoined hotel, but that is TBC. We will do our best to assist where possible, so please don’t be discouraged from submitting a talk if this is a problem. Send us an email explaining your situation and we’ll see what we can do.

Deadline

The deadline for submissions is 30 September 2024 23:59PM, but the earlier you submit the better.
