Taking the Day Off: AI Stand-Ins for Zoom

What could Ferris Bueller get up to in the modern day?

This talk is about building that: an AI stand-in for Zoom. The system listens to a meeting transcript as it is happening, decides when and how “I” should respond, generates a response in my speaking style, and routes synthetic audio/video back into the call. If someone says, “turn your camera on for proof,” the goal is to keep the bit going.

I’ll walk through the prototype architecture: capturing my own voice and mannerisms with consent, feeding live meeting context into an agent, generating plausible responses, pushing audio/video through virtual devices, and testing whether a real person can tell when the stand-in breaks.

Remember Ferris already hacked his school’s grade system, so this would be pretty canonically accurate.
