PQC in the Real World: Crypto Agility, Traffic Analysis, and the Road to Quantum Resilience
2025-10-25 , Track 3 - Room 2400

Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) isn’t just an academic concern or a future problem-it’s already here. With NIST's standardization ongoing and hybrid cryptographic protocols surfacing in real-world stacks, the transition is no longer optional, it's operational. In this talk, we’ll demystify PQC from a security practitioner's point of view and walk through practical implementation and traffic analysis strategies.

We’ll discuss Grover's and Shor’s algorithms and their practical consequences on symmetric and asymmetric algorithms. We’ll explore how crypto agility enables defense-in-depth during the transition to PQC, and we’ll cover real-world tooling to deploy hybrid certificate chains and key exchanges.

Finally, we’ll walk through a case study capturing and decoding PQC-enabled QUIC traffic to demonstrate how defenders and researchers can monitor post-quantum cryptographic handshakes and encrypted payloads in live environments.

His recent work focuses on building hybrid cryptographic environments with post-quantum key exchange. Charlie's background bridges practical system security with cryptographic foresight, and he's passionate about helping teams prepare for the quantum transition through hands-on labs, CTF challenges, and protocol-level forensics.
