The Psychology of Deception: How Today's World Leaves Us Exposed to Social Engineering
2025-06-19 , Classroom 4 - CLUSIL track

Social engineering doesn't just exploit human nature — it thrives on the way we live. In a world shaped by digital overload, isolation, and hyperconnected technology, our psychological defenses are more exposed than ever. This talk explores how modern society amplifies human vulnerabilities, and what it takes to build real resilience at the human layer of security.

Eloïse is a psychologist and researcher in human-machine interaction at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). Her PhD explored how humans build trust with robots, which sparked deeper questions around privacy, manipulation, and digital influence. This led her to cybersecurity, where she now investigates human vulnerabilities and how they're exploited — with the goal of making defenses more human-aware.
