From Lit Review to Poster: an Educational Intervention for RNs and APPs
Elaina Vitale

Introduction: A health sciences librarian and an APRN have partnered to develop a four month educational series for registered nurses (RNs) and advanced practice providers (APPs) at our institution who are interested in research, but aren’t sure how to get started.

Methods/Description: We are using a pre / post survey to gauge RN and APP confidence with creating a research question, performing a literature search, reading and understanding literature, and creating and presenting a research poster before and after a four month seminar series on these topics.

Results/Outcomes: RN and APP research output at our institution is currently low, whether because of time constraints, institutional support, or confidence to pursue a research trajectory. Participants in our series have been guided through poster submission at a conference relevant to their clinical specialty or research interest, and in January 2026, the series will culminate in a casual poster symposium where all participants will present their research posters in front of peers and colleagues. By the time of CHLA, we will be prepared to discuss early successes of the project, pre and post survey details, and enrollment details.

Discussion: The series itself is a model for other librarians who are interested in increasing their outreach with nursing staff or nursing students. At CHLA, we will discuss the series and series content in more detail, and share preliminary findings from the pre and post survey, as well as details of successful poster submissions from our participants.
