eBPF-based Container Networking

Extended BPF (eBPF) 是實現軟體定義網路 (SDN) 技術的一種新型方式,提供強大的能力別且催生了網路、觀測性能及安全技術行業。在過去的幾年裡,有非常多技術可以驅動 SDN,例如內核網路中的 netfilter、使用 OpenFlow 的 Open vSwitch 以及來自用戶空間的封包處理。本演講將從 SDN 的背景開始,簡要介紹 eXpress Data Path(XDP) 和 eBPF 並將這些技術應用於容器網路。


Extended BPF (eBPF) is a new type of implementation to achieve Software-defined networking(SDN) technique that provides superpower capabilities, birthing an industry of networking, observing performance, and security technologies. For the past years, there were so many techniques to drive SDN, such as Netfilter in kernel networking, Open vSwitch with OpenFlow, and packet processing from user space. This talk will introduce eBPF as a novel SDN technique starting with the background of the SDN, a brief introduction to eXpress Data Path(XDP) and eBPF, and applying those techniques with container networking.
