With the growth of FOSS FPGA tool, we can now synthesize and program a RISC-V core on Lattice FPGA board without any proprietary software, which enables new platforms for embedded Linux development.
In this presentation, I'll talk about open source FPGA toolchain, open source CPU/SoC cores and the rise of RISC-V. Furthermore, I'll share my own experience on porting Alpine Linux to LiteX/VexRiscv, a FOSS RISC-V 32bit SoC, programmed to a Lattice ECP-5 board with Symbiflow, the FOSS end-to-end synthesis-APR-bitstream flow.
