DESCRIPTION:This poster will present an analysis of the potential for cycl
 ing in daily urban trips\, assuming that all transferable trips currently 
 made by public transport or car were instead made by bike. It also examine
 s which population groups would be most likely to change their travel beha
 vior: young or elderly individuals? High- or low-income groups? Residents 
 of city centers or suburbs?\nUsing data from over 65 local household trave
 l surveys— conducted over the past decade in medium to large French citi
 es\, around half a million of persons surveyed—this study characterizes 
 the potential for increased cycling. Realizing this potential\, however\, 
 requires the development of cycling infrastructure across entire cities. T
 he analysis also assesses the impacts on peoples’ lives\, such as the po
 ssibility of selling a car or discontinuing a public transport pass\, and 
 increasing well-being and physical activity through new cycling trips.\nFr
 ench household travel surveys provide detailed data on daily mobility\, in
 cluding commuter trips and socio-demographic characteristics. The poster w
 ill also discuss the effects on traffic flow: How would a modal shift towa
 rd cycling affect the kilometers traveled by car or public transport?\nWhi
 le the data focuses on French cities\, the methodology and findings can be
  applied or reproduced in many locations worldwide\, provided that local d
 ata is available and depending on city size and the level of public transp
