Technology, media, and digital transformation are my focus – for over 20 years as a journalist and in the tech industry.

After working at companies like Axel Springer, DER SPIEGEL, and Meta (Facebook's parent company), I am now Editor-in-Chief of heise medien. I work with a fantastic team to further develop reliable and in-depth tech journalism. In addition to heise online, we produce c’t, the Apple magazine Mac&i, and many other services, podcasts, videos, and educational offerings. I am particularly interested in media regulation, artificial intelligence, digital business models, and the future of journalism. My screen time is currently about twelve hours a day.

What drives me? Making complex topics understandable. And ensuring that well-founded reporting remains relevant in a media landscape shaped by algorithms and platforms, so that we can continue to produce the best independent tech journalism in the future.

Should he really add another training program, an internship, to his computer science degree? Jo didn't hesitate long, because working at c't promised to combine two things he really enjoys: his passion for computers and writing. That was almost 30 years ago.

Since the end of 2022, his job has consisted almost exclusively of categorizing the huge wave of news about Artificial Intelligence in articles, interviews, and webinars: Who has released a new language model, where has a new AI function been attached to an app? His other topics – see below – have receded somewhat into the background. He is responsible for the content design of the c't <webdev> conference. And as Hartmut Gieselmann's representative, he coordinates the work of colleagues from the "Internet, Data Protection and Applications" department.
