Dr. Gerhard Stein is Head of Product Development at FLEXOPTIX, ensuring that innovative and amazing products are brought into the market.

Back in the 1990s, when he was still living in Mexico, he wrote small programs and assembled computers and network systems for customers. After his arrival in Germany, he began studying mechanical and process engineering at the TU Darmstadt, continued this at the Ruhr University Bochum, specialising computational engineering and received his doctorate in the field of simulation technology.

In 2020 I joined Deutsche Telekom as IP/MPLS-Backbone Architect, working on the Network Architecture of the IP/MPLS Backbone of Deutsche Telekom as global Tier-1 ISP.
I'm part of the Engineering Teams for MPLS Core Development and the development for IP-Transit and Peering services of AS 3320.
I'm involved in the Introduction of RPKI at the Deutsche Telekom global Network AS 3320 and also working on the migration to Segment Routing (SR-MPLS).

Before I joined Deutsche Telekom, I started my Network Engineering career 25 years ago in 1999 at UUNET Germany and stayed with this ISP during all the company transformations from UUNET via MCI to Verizon until end of 2016.
At the beginning of 2017 I moved on to 1&1 Versatel and joined there the Platform & Network Design Team until 2020, when I moved on to Deutsche Telekom.
During this journey I was always working on Backbone Engineering Topics looking into MPLS Traffic Engineering and also Internet BGP routing policies.

Kevin Meynell

Kevin Meynell is the Community Engagement Manager at the SCION Association where he supports the SCION technical community and standardisation efforts. He previously led the MANRS programme that promoted the implementation of better routing security practices on the Internet, led the Deploy360 programme to encourage IPv6 and DNS security deployment, and worked on South-East Europe and Central Asia IXP development.

Prior to that he was the Training Manager at APNIC, Manager of the Shibboleth Consortium, and spent 16 years as a Project Development Officer at TERENA (now the GÉANT Association). Pim van Pelt

Pim van Pelt - PBVP1-RIPE started his career as a network engineer in the Netherlands, where he worked for Intouch, Freeler, and BIT. He helped raise awareness for IPv6 by launching it at AMS-IX back in 2001. He also operated SixXS, a global IPv6 tunnel broker, from 2001 through to its sunset in 2017.

Today, Pim operates AS8298 at IPng Networks GmbH, a network running fully featured opensource routers with VPP in excess of 100Mpps.

My name is Vincentz Petzholtz and I have been working in the Network Industry since ~2006.

I’ve been a Network Engineer and Solution Architect through different positions and companies (Interoute/GTT/SysEleven/Inter.link). I've worked in small to very large projects, enterprises and networks. From simple to complex SDN driven (commercial or self build) to internet scale solutions. I'm happy to talk at conferences, community events and arrange workshops in a public and/or private setting. Talking to customers and understanding their needs is something I enjoy. Engineering is at the heart of those things and is connecting everything. Main areas of expertise have been BGP (Routing, Policies etc.), MPLS/Traffic Engineering, DataCenter Fabric, Network Security (especially DDoS Detection and Mitigation) and overall network design and architecture. Besides that I also contribute to the Internet Community via the Berlin Internet Exchange (BCIX) as a member of the advisory board.

Wolfgang Tremmel

After completing his degree at Karlsruhe University, Wolfgang started working as a network engineer in 1994. He went on to become head of network operations and peering manager at a range of ISPs.

In 2006, Wolfgang joined DE-CIX as Director Customer Support, a position he held for ten years. Since 2016, Wolfgang has been head of the DE-CIX Academy, making sure customers understand how BGP and other routing protocols work.
