Why does an installer even need to do this ?
We will shortly introduce how the Fedora/RHEL installation process handles graphics, keyboard input & remote access & how these are impacted by the Xorg to Wayland migration.
Next we will go over the various possible migration scenarios & what option we choose in the end. Lastly there will be an overview of current progress of the Xorg -> Wayland migration process for the various installer use cases on RHEL & Fedora.
While the Wayland migration is presented from the Anaconda installer point of view, there should certainly be useful lessons and bits of information that would be useful for any other projects that are also finally leaving Xorg behind & heading for the future of Linux graphics technology.
