Proactive Engineering: from Fixing Bugs to Preventing Incidents
06-13, 16:10–16:25 (Europe/Prague), A113 | Lightning Talks (capacity 64)

As a young engineer, I discovered the satisfaction of resolving a critical bug for a valued client, earning recognition and a bonus. Ever since, my passion was for writing code and designing software that preemptively addresses potential issues. However, despite my efforts to prevent incidents, I never received the same recognition. This raises a crucial question: how can organizations foster a culture that motivates engineers to proactively prevent incidents rather than merely reacting to them? Join me as we explore strategies for building an organizational ethos that incentivizes proactive problem-solving, ultimately leading to more resilient and efficient software development practices.
