Learn about Linux, containers, and networking through self-hosting
08-15, 14:20–14:55 (US/Eastern), Terrace Lounge (capacity 48)

Self-hosting is running a cloud service on your own while keeping more control over your private data. It's also a great way to learn about Linux, open source software, and how to operate a server.

I will describe my journey to self-hosting and my use of photo, music, and video sharing applications running in containers. Before self-hosting, I relied big tech for these services.

You'll learn about how to acquire and setup a Linux server, install applications running in containers, and secure access to your server. This talk is for developers, designers, and anyone interested in learning how to operate a server for personal use that's available 24/7 and can be used as a personal cloud.
