The Digital Lifeline: Harnessing Digital Public Goods for a Sustainable Future
18.11.2025 , FISCHER & HODLER

In this pivotal moment, as the climate crisis intensifies, digital public goods (DPGs) present a unique opportunity.

This keynote will explore how open-source software, open data, and open AI models are not just technical artefacts but essential tools for global climate action. The presentation will introduce the concept of DPGs and will make the case that DPGs can bridge critical gaps in our response to climate change. Based on real-life examples, we will go beyond simple tools and explore DPGs as a means to building a shared, transparent, and resilient digital foundation that everyone can use. The talk will outline a compelling vision for the future, highlighting key opportunities and challenges. Ultimately, this keynote serves as a call to action: to invest in a collaborative, digital ecosystem that makes a sustainable, equitable future not just possible, but inevitable.
