Submission Guidelines - how to submit a good proposal

  • Abstract: Your abstract should clearly and concisely summarise the core idea of your talk, workshop, or tutorial in 150–400 words. A good abstract answers the questions: What is the topic? Why is it important? What will attendees gain? Make it engaging and relevant, showing why your session is valuable for DjangoCon Africa’s audience.
  • Audience: Tell us what technical level you think your talk is aimed at:
    • Not really applicable: this is not a technical talk
    • Beginner: For those just starting with Django or programming.
    • Intermediate: For those with working knowledge who are looking to deepen their skills.
    • Expert: For seasoned professionals eager for cutting-edge ideas or advanced topics.
  • Specify the audience level and craft your talk with their needs in mind, ensuring the content resonates with their skills and interests.
  • Outcomes: Every session should have clear, tangible goals that create impact. Explain what attendees will walk away with— new knowledge, skills, ideas, inspiration, etc. Focus on how your talk will improve capacity, share actionable insights, or address challenges, particularly within the African tech context.
  • Speaker Profile: Tell us about yourself! Share your background, expertise, and why you’re the right person to present this session. Include links to previous talks, blog posts, projects, or any work that showcases your knowledge and public speaking experience. Don’t hesitate to highlight your passion or unique perspective—this is your chance to sell your idea and yourself!
  • Be Original: - Avoid using AI to generate your proposal. Originality counts!

DjangoCon Africa is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. We encourage:

  • First-time speakers: Don’t worry if this is your first time—your ideas matter!
  • Speakers from all backgrounds: Share your unique perspective, no matter where you’re from.
  • Women and underrepresented groups: We want to amplify your voice—please apply!
  • Learners and students: Your fresh ideas are vital to our community.
  • Experts: Take a moment to give back and share your knowledge with the community.
