Using Django to build Cyber-Security Tools
2025-08-13 , Main Hall

The talk is about how we can use Django to build security applications as well as leveraging the benefits of existing python security and networking related modules. The talk is designed to help showcase how Django can be used to venture into an alternate industry.

After massive and popular cyber security attacks that have occurred in Africa over the past year alone, I began to wonder how is it this many companies are easily vulnerable? I came to the conclusion that Security Information and Events Management Systems are simply too expensive and many of them are not tailored for the African market. I arrived at the conclusion that as an avid Django developer something had to be done to leverage Django's ease, flexibility and scalability to create new companies that build security solutions with Django.

I am an avid Django developer, speaker and frequent organizer/volunteer of the PyCon Namibia. I have over eight years of software development and project management experience combined. I enjoy engaging with new people and building software in various fields.
