Why make a manual for collective self-defense guides? In this session, we discuss the founding of Cypher Sex in response to the 2018 US-based bill FOSTA/SESTA and describe the processes we adopted to create the first two digital self-defense guides for sex workers in the United States and Germany. Additionally, we discuss the importance of creating new localized guides that take into account specific needs and self-defense strategies of queer communities for the particular legal and social context where they operate.
