Call for Academic Papers

Academic talks and posters are presented in conjunction with a submitted paper, that will be reviewed by the Academic Committee, separate from the ordinary Program Committee.

The main purpose of the academic track is to bring together researchers, teachers, developers, users and practitioners carrying out research activities in geospatial domains, with an emphasis on open source solutions.

We invite you to present your research achievements, intermediate results, ideas, concepts and academic endeavours relevant to open source geospatial ecosystem.

The Academic Committee encourages presentations of technologies or use cases that display originality with respect to the scientific state of the art, and an emphasis on novelty of approach.

  • Step 1: Submit your abstract. The abstracts will be evaluated using a blind review process. Submitted abstracts will be refereed for originality/scientific novelty, relevance for the FOSS4G community and overall quality by the academics and researchers from the Scientific Committee. We are happy to say we can accept up to 2 contributions per registration.
  • Step 2: Authors of selected abstracts will be notified if they have been selected to present a talk or a poster and will be invited to submit the corresponding paper of original and unpublished research for publication. The papers will be published in the "Proceedings of the FOSS4G Academic Track", which are held at “The International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Science” (listed in the ISI Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI) of the Web of Science, SCOPUS, the E/I Compendex, and the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
