The promise of integrating AI in Geo is big, but how to navigate the rapidly developing AI world? How to filter AI nonsense from actual use value? And most importantly: how to do it open source?
In this talk, we provide a working example of an open source web-GIS that uses an LLM to query spatial data and display the results. We discuss challenges related to: LLM hallucination, consistency of results, generating valid SQL queries and guard-railing the LLM.

Mijn naam is Kamiel Verhelst. Ik ben een softwareontwikkelaar, gespecialiseerd in GIS en Web development. Mijn missie is om onze samenleving een beetje rechtvaardiger en eerlijker te maken door digitale technologieën toe te passen waar ze van waarde zijn.

Met mijn brede achtergrond in zowel sociale wetenschap als computer science ben ik in staat om complexe problemen vanuit verschillende perspectieven te benaderen. Ik combineer graag technisch (programmeer-)werk met advies en het geven van instructie.
My name is Sytze. I work as a geodata specialist, with a strong focus on open source tools and integrating AI into our lives in responsible ways. Alongside this, I work as a journalist, covering digital autonomy and using geospatial analysis as base for reporting. I'm a tech idealist - convinced that when innovation aligns with our values, we can create a better world for everybody :)
