Toward Universal Access to All Knowledge
2025-03-15 , Main Stage

Mark will introduce the work of the Internet Archive, with a focus on the Wayback Machine. He will describe efforts by the organization to advance the mission of Universal Access to All Knowledge, offer practical examples of how that is done, and describe some of the benefits of that work. He will explore various roles the organization plays in the “open” world and how it has contributed to “open” projects and movements. Finally Mark will update recent efforts to archive much of the US government web prior to this past presidential election, and since the recent inauguration. He will explain how they work with others to help ensure material removed by the US government can be accessed via the Wayback Machine, and how they are helping to support efforts by journalists, resources, activists and others to track and understand what has been removed or changed.
