It takes a global village to develop and maintain the vast body of open-source software (OSS) that runs the Internet. This talk revisits the Open Core software business model, how it fared before and with Web2 public clouds, and what to expect with Web3 decentralized clouds. It also explores how Open Core can complement crypto-enabled mechanisms such as RPGF, Quadratic Funding, developer reputation, and code impact and help provide sustainable OSS digital commons.
