Supporting Interactive Graphical Applications with ThinLinc in Open OnDemand
2026-03-11 , Main Hall

This session will introduce ThinLinc and how to use it together with Open OnDemand. ThinLinc is a Linux terminal server solution that is used at HPC centers around the world to support access to interactive graphical Linux applications. The ThinLinc team is working with the OOD team to integrate ThinLinc into OOD and this session will go over the technical work as well as the features of the integration. This session will also include a demo of the current beta release.

Traditionally, ThinLinc has been used to create an HPC Desktop running in front of an HPC system, complementing an Open OnDemand installation. In an ongoing project, the ThinLinc team is collaborating with the Open OnDemand developers to also integrate ThinLinc into Open OnDemand so that it can be used within Slurm jobs. A beta version of this integration is available and will be demoed in this session.
