Online resistance against gender-based violence in Mexico

In this session, we aim to share some of the main challenges we've faced while keeping up with the isolation (individual and collective) while still working against the rise of gender-based violence that came with the confinement. Also, we look forward to sharing some of the local strategies and Latin American initiatives that have provided outlets to have some access to information, helplines, and community development strategies amidst the digital divide and political violence against women and LGBTTTIQ+ people.

How will you deal with varying numbers of participants in your session?:

Of course, the more the merrier, but in this case, it would be also great if we had a small number of participants with which maybe we could open this session to a more horizontal way of sharing and engaging with each other's experiences.

Also, we will be having a collaborative document (virtual pad) to share beyond what can be provided during the session duration, in order to recover any thoughts participants are willing to share and keep track of possible future collaborations.

What is the goal and/or outcome of your session?:

We aim to engage with the participants while sharing our experiences in the Mexican context, we want to build a space that can lead participants to learn how to approach similar experiences or challenges through the exchange of strategies we've come up with while working towards the eradication of gender-based violence (both on-line and off-line).

We're hoping that many efforts and discussions will continue after Mozfest. Share any ideas you already have for how to continue the work from your session.:

We look forward to engaging with other activists, human rights defenders, and social organizers facing similar issues in their local contexts. To help with this, we will be using a collaborative document (virtual pad) to keep track of the main issues we will cover during the session and invite the participants to share their thoughts, as well as any contact information if they feel comfortable with a follow-up on sharing specific strategies or even proposing specific collaborations.
