Antiblack Racism, Technology and AI in Brazil

This panel discussion aims to connect brazilian researchers and activists around the theme of antiblack racism and digital technologies, including issues on facial recognition, social media platforms and hate speech, digital inequality, intersectional internet and others.

The first part will be comprised of lightning talks (5 min) of a list of activists and researchers from several different Brazilian cities and the second part will consist of questions, answers and discussion.

This is a networking session from the "AI IRL Hackathon - Building Trustworthy AI". Register here to attend: http://mzl.la/taihackathon

We're hoping that many efforts and discussions will continue after Mozfest. Share any ideas you already have for how to continue the work from your session.:

There are some brazilian organizations focused on technology and antiracism practices, working on issues ranging from facial recognition to media literacy. Members of selected organizations are being/will be invited to give lightning talks.

We hope Mozfest can be a opportunity to widen the ties between those organizations further, and include connections with other organizations around the world.

How will you deal with varying numbers of participants in your session?:

We are previously inviting some participants to prepare lightning talks, so I hope at least 6 people with presentations will be participating.

If we receive more participants than expected, we can use the opportunity to schedule other sessions.
