‘Women and girls use computers, men and boys love them.’ This 1986 New York Times quote was published 35 years ago, yet we are still facing a severe underrepresentation of women in technology. In the age of AI and further digitization of our societies, can we still afford to accept this gender gap? In this session we will explore the relationship between increasing gender diversity in tech and trustworthy AI.

VHTO and Women In Tech are both set up to promote gender diversity in the tech sector. We will continue to work on this topic with our long-standing partners and new MozFest partners.
- Women In Tech offers a Global platform (women-in-tech.net) to drive impact and close the gender gap by supporting local communities of girls and women working in technology. They use this platform to connect individuals and bring groups together through networking, mentoring, job offers, recruitment, role model masterclasses, pitch programmes, a Female Digital Lab, entrepreneurship opportunities, coding classes, news, events, and more.
- VHTO gathers knowledge and input from MozFest partners to further develop its advocacy agenda vis-à-vis the Dutch government.

The pandemic crisis has made us aware of the magnitude of the challenges that we are facing on a global level and we need radical collaboration and openness to move forward and come up with sustainable solutions.
