Our discussion will focus on how the Wikimedia movement can help the sustainability and climate movements while maintaining our neutral point of view. What does knowledge activism look like in a platform focused on being apolitical? In this talk we will look at how activist communities are developing a playbook to meet the world's information needs to confront a pressing climate crisis.
If a lot of participants join, we will guide the discussion through questions in the chat that are be picked up by a moderator. If the numbers are very low, instead it can be a discussion where everyone participates after an introduction to the topic. This could be more valuable for the individuals. We will present a flexible toolkit for individuals who want to get involved after the effect that should scale for anyone.
We're hoping that many efforts and discussions will continue after Mozfest. Share any ideas you already have for how to continue the work from your session.:We are already providing knowledge to the world through Wikipedia. But a lot is missing, and these blind spots, especially for topics important to marginalized communities or communities in the global south. These gaps are preventing the necessary global action based on solid information. Through this session we want to inspire more people to contribute to our common knowledge, and make it easier fight the climate change with properly sourced facts.
