Designing Citizen Interactions for Urban Sensing Systems

Smart city systems rarely directly engage with citizens. Researchers and designers at the Responsible Sensing Lab are exploring ways to invite citizens, or any stakeholder, to interact with sensing systems. In this workshop, we will be discussing two projects that provide insights into what it means in practical terms to make a smart city system transparent, assessable and contestable.

Workshop leaders: Kars Alfrink & Marcel Schouwenaar

What is the goal and/or outcome of your session?:

The Responsible Sensing Lab is a joint effort of AMS Institue and the City of Amsterdam. It is part of the Responsive Urban Digitization program; a three year collaboration in which we closely work with experts at TU Delft Industrial Design Faculty.

We're hoping that many efforts and discussions will continue after Mozfest. Share any ideas you already have for how to continue the work from your session.:

During the workshop, we are hoping to yield valuable insights from different perspectives. We would love to integrate these insights to bring our challenges to a next level within our project.

How will you deal with varying numbers of participants in your session?:

The workshop will be suited for both 30 as 3 participants.
