Ample Labs - Empowering those facing Homeless Through Artificial Intelligence.

Ample Labs session will share the Chalmers story, from concept to creation and where we are at today. Chalmers will also be in attendance to introduce themselves and show us all what they can do! We hope to bring together a varied group to discuss innovative solutions to homelessness, support service navigation, and learn more about what is happening in other communities. We envision a world where no one has to face homelessness, and bringing together stakeholders in one space brings us one step closer to achieving that.

What is the goal and/or outcome of your session?:

The goal of this session is to show attendees the amazing ways that AI is playing a crucial role in streamlining support service navigation, homelessness prevention and have deeper conversations around other AI success stories, further opportunities, challenges and limitations.

How will you deal with varying numbers of participants in your session?:

The discussion would likely be shorter if there are not as many participants, particularly around the Q&A portion, however, I have presented successfully to several varying sized groups and been able to implement additional activities and polls and facilitate more in-depth and meaningful discussions as a result of having smaller groups.

We're hoping that many efforts and discussions will continue after Mozfest. Share any ideas you already have for how to continue the work from your session.:

Yes, there are many ways people can engage with us after Mozfest, all can be virtual:

Hack-Day - Spend a day with us to Hack on features for Chalmers! We have received feedback from youth, users, stakeholders and team strategy sessions on features that would make Chalmers better. We spend 4-6 hours together to make those feature suggestions a reality.

External Mentorship - volunteers can be matched based on need/questions/commonalities with an Ample Lab youth volunteer (either tech or co-design participant) through virtual chats to provide guidance/1-on-1 mentorship for job interviews, resumes, job-related questions, etc.

We have lots of skills-based volunteers at Ample who do things such as:
coding / development
UI/UX design
UX research
graphic design
social media
Marketing (brand strategy, lead generation, user acquisition)
Co-design workshop facilitation support/mentors

Before founding Ample Labs, CG was designing mobile experiences and enterprise software for ecobee and luxury retailers. CG is focused on building a more inclusive, accessible and equitable tech sector.
