Mozilla Festival 2021 (March 8th – 19th, 2021)

Google Earth Storytelling

Participants will be introduced to 826CHI’s Google Earth Project, Chaos Comes Naturally. They will engage in a writing activity and then get into small groups to create their own sound and/or video project to be mapped onto Google Earth. Participants will engage with the idea of storytelling as it pertains to lived and imagined places.

We're hoping that many efforts and discussions will continue after Mozfest. Share any ideas you already have for how to continue the work from your session.:

826CHI is part of the larger 826 National network. The network has launched a writing project entitled #agoodtimetowrite. The writing started in this workshop session can be completed and uploaded to the #agoodtimetowrite website: https://826national.org/agoodtimetowrite/

How will you deal with varying numbers of participants in your session?:

At the 5 minute mark, I will take note of how many folks are in the room and assess the approaches to each activity to tailor to that number of people. For example, if it’s a very small group, we can do more personal introductions and discussions but if it’s a larger group, we can use more chat functioning than waiting for each person to speak. If the group size fluctuates throughout the session, I will adjust accordingly by managing group sizes, working with the wrangler to answer questions, and asking for people’s opinions along the way to ensure comfort and ease for the participants.

What is the goal and/or outcome of your session?:
