Since 2016, Tactical Tech has been producing The Glass Room, an exhibition series which explores the themes of data, privacy and our relationship to technology. Our exhibitions are engaging, beautifully-designed, self-learning, public interventions that challenge our audiences of all ages to question their usage of technology, and give them simple resources to make sustainable changes in their digital lives. Our latest Glass Room project is the Misinformation Edition, a portable exhibit that can be set up in almost any space – as well as online. This edition comes at a critical time, when so many of us are at home and are more exposed than ever to the dangers of misinformation.
It’s accompanied by our Data Detox Kit, which provides simple tips and tricks to recognize misinformation and to avoid spreading it. The Glass Room Misinformation Edition has already been translated into over twelve languages, with more planned.

I will submit a second proposal for a discussion about the changing formats and shapes of The Glass Room, to discuss how our formats have been scaled for the decentralisation of information, and formats changed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The exhibition itself has various interactive apps (A Drop in the OCEAN, Fake or Real, Doublecheck and Deep Fake Lab) which we hope will create discussions around misinformation.
How will you deal with varying numbers of participants in your session?:We would hope the online exhibition would be shared online, for visitors to access at a convenient time for them. We can do a walkthrough of the exhibition to go along, but it would be really best shared as a space or link, or accompanying exhibition at the festival.
What is the goal and/or outcome of your session?:- To present the Glass Room Misinformation Edition to MozFest festival goers in a digital format
- To create awareness about misinformation, to slow down its spread
- To present the Glass Room Community Edition format
