A hackerspace can be a place to share, learn and teach about free software, but when it is not a requirement but only a hub, a hackerspace can be a meeting place to develop and experiment on other topics for very diverse communities.
We invite people who are part of hackerspaces or free software communities to dialogue to learn together about strategies or actions that they have taken from their spaces in the search to make spaces more inclusive.
We will share our experience by expanding the thematic axes of a hackerspace to nourish ourselves with other communities and ways of seeing the world
Most of the technological projects that are visible speak English or some European language, we believe that dialogue between hackerspaces and communities of the global south is necessary. There are some software projects that have a broad relationship with communities in Latin America, we believe that this relationship is beneficial for both parties.
¿Cómo vas a hacer frente si varía el número de participantes en tu sesión? ¿Y si asisten 30 participantes? ¿Y si son 3? –If only 3 people attend, it can be a more direct dialogue where we can respond and ask about forms of organization and type of activities carried out by hackerspaces
If there are 31 people, we will use a pad to be able to read and answer the questions that arise, also the session would be more expository than participatory, leaving only half the time for participation.
¿En qué idioma te gustaría realizar tu sesión? –Spanish
¿Cuál es el objetivo y/o el resultado de tu sesión? –Generate ideas on how to make technological communities more diverse and inclusive, learn from other spacers and free software communities to apply it in our contexts and regions.
Share the experience of being a hackerspace from the global south
¿Qué pasará después del MozFest? Esperamos que muchos esfuerzos y discusiones continúen después de MozFest. Comparte cualquier idea que tengas sobre cómo continuar el trabajo de tu sesión. –Continue the dialogue after MozFest in a virtual space such as discourse or hub. The hackerspaces community has mailing lists but currently few people use these tools, we believe that due to the short time of the session, the ideas and questions, answers can be extended in another asynchronous online space.
