Alia is a PhD student at NYU researching the impact of technology on politics with a particular focus on political communication through online platforms. As co-founder of Decifer Studio, she works on public-facing critical AI literacy projects. Past examples include Survival of the Best Fit, an educational game on AI bias, and The Algorithm, an interactive explainer on recommender systems. Both projects were funded by Mozilla Creative Media Awards, and Alia has been a part of the MozFest community for 5 years as a wrangler, facilitator, wrangler mentor, and ambassador.
