This proposal looks into the intersection of AI and democracy, focusing on challenges like disinformation and transparency while exploring opportunities for trust-building and community engagement. Central to our approach is Real411, a civic tech platform designed to combat online harms and nurture resilience.
Real411 harnesses AI to mitigate the spread of disinformation, empowering users to validate information and contribute to a culture of seeking credible information. By fostering transparency and accountability, the platform aims to cultivate community ownership, ensuring users are exercising their right to make informed decisions based on credible information.
By fostering transparency and accountability, the platform also empowers users to actively engage in civic discourse and decision-making processes. In essence, Real411 is a gateway for citizens to actively participate in shaping their communities and exercising their democratic rights.
Through collaborative efforts between technologists, policymakers, and civil society, we seek to leverage Real411 as a catalyst for democratic renewal in the digital age.
