Hosted/moderated by Climatestrike Switzerland Working Group Decolonize

Session Description: This session explores the intersection between climate justice, armed conflict, and the struggle against imperialism, colonialism, and emerging neocolonial systems. It will examine how the climate crisis poses a serious threat to peace and stability, drawing on detailed analysis and case studies.

We will also discuss how colonial and neocolonial power structures continue to shape and deepen the crisis. From an intersectional perspective, we will uncover how environmental degradation, resource exploitation, and global inequality fuel conflict and displacement. The session will highlight the narratives that address this crisis and explore how climate activists can build a united and powerful discourse. We will also reflect on the challenges we must address in shaping this discourse, as well as the role of media and international environmental institutions in simplifying or emptying the issue of its critical intersectional dimensions.
