In October 2019, Mike took on the role of founding CEO of Foundry, a leader in decentralized infrastructure with a dynamic team of over 150. Under his leadership, Foundry has established
the world's largest Bitcoin mining pool and offers top-tier enterprise software solutions and site services tailored for institutional miners. Mike's journey into a career in bitcoin began with a focus on learning the fundamentals of bitcoin mining and then helping grow Core Scientific, a leader in cryptocurrency mining and AI hosting. With nearly eight years of experience in bitcoin mining, Mike has built invaluable industry connections and steered Foundry through multiple growth milestones. Recently, he helped drive the launch of two innovative ventures within the DCG portfolio: Yuma, dedicated to advancing Bittensor, and Fortitude Mining, which represents Foundry’s self-mining evolution. His career began at GE and before his pivot into the crypto industry, Mike was an operational and commercial executive for manufacturing and distribution firms for more than two decades, often serving at the behest of private-equity backers. In 2007, Mike and his wife, Lisa, co-founded the Clairebear Foundation, a non-profit that supports families with sick children. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and an MBA in Corporate Finance from the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating in 1996.
