Transforming Training Evaluation with the Digital Training Companion App (Workshop)
17.05.2025 , Fab8.B 205
Sprache: English

This workshop introduces the Digital Training Companion (DTC) and the Digital Competency Training Assessment Model (DTCAM) for improving and evaluating digital competence training for teachers across Europe. Participants will explore the DTCAM framework, gain hands-on experience with the DTC tool, and discuss findings from a field study demonstrating the DTC's potential for enhancing digital teaching and learning. The workshop aims to equip educators with practical skills and insights to implement the DTC in their contexts, contributing to the European agenda for digital competence.

This workshop addresses the need for effective evaluation of trainings in digital competence, a critical challenge across Europe. While current evaluation methods are limited, the Digital Competency Training Assessment Model (DTCAM) offers an expanded framework incorporating behavioral changes, organizational conditions, and sustainability criteria. Central to this approach is the Digital Training Companion (DTC), a web application utilizing data science for ongoing, structured monitoring and assessment. The DTC supports formative assessment, data-driven feedback, and self-regulation for trainers, multiplicators, and students. This workshop explores the theoretical underpinnings of DTCAM, provides hands-on experience with the DTC, and examines its application in real-world settings. Results from an exploratory field study will be presented, demonstrating the DTC's potential to improve digital teaching competence transfer and motivation. The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to implement the DTC in their own contexts, ultimately fostering sustainable improvements in teaching and learning, and contributing to the European agenda for digital competence in education.

In September 2023, I defended my PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Mireille Betrancourt at TECFA UNIGE. My research focused on the effects of foreign vs. native language video subtitles on content learning in a foreign language, in the context of multimedia learning theories and using the eye-tracking method.
In April 2024, I joined the LEARN team as a post-doctoral researcher for the EPFL-BeLearn project Monitoring for empowering trainers and student teachers in the implementation of digital competences. It explores how the Digital Trading Companion, powered by data science and AI, improves the monitoring and follow-up of the digital competences training of pre-service teachers and their students.
