Artificial Intelligence is reshaping higher education—but who controls it, and whose values does it reflect?
In the first part of the session, we will introduce PublicAI as a transparent, community-governed alternative to proprietary systems, focusing on Apertus, the first fully open-source Swiss foundation model. Participants will see how open, transparent AI can support open pedagogy, digital inclusion, and academic freedom, while enabling educators and students to create, adapt, and share educational content—without compromising data sovereignty or institutional autonomy.
The second part is a hands-on workshop where participants will use the PublicAI API to build a Personalized Q&A Generator that transforms lecture materials into an adaptive learning experience.
Note: The first part is suitable for both technical and non-technical participants, while the second is intended for participants with some technical experience.
