Marieke Mol
Marieke Mol graduated in 2007 from the Faculty of Law (LL.M.) at Leiden University with a specialization in international relations. She joined the public administration as a lawyer and international project manager at the Immigration and Naturalisation Service. In 2014 she was seconded to the European Commission in Athens, Greece and Ankara, Turkey in 2016. In 2017 Marieke joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. Due to the covid pandemic limitations to her international work, Marieke decided to take up a the position of manager in the field of asylum. Marieke considers herself to be a “woman on a mission” and wholeheartedly decided to continue her career path in the field of digital autonomy, bringing her back the international arena. Since January she is the project leader of the EDIC for Digital Commons in formation on behalf of The Netherlands.

During this presentation we will introduce you to the newly formed European Digital Infrastructure Consortium for Digital Commons. What is an EDIC? What is the background? How did practical cooperation between EU Member States grow into the EDIC and what will be its tasks? Moreover; how can the EDIC become a European response to strategic digital dependencies?
