Open Source Ecosystem Enabler (OSEE): Building Sustainable Digital Futures
2025-10-01 , Auditorium

The Open Source Ecosystem Enabler (OSEE) initiative, led by ITU and UNDP with support from the European Commission, empowers governments and local ecosystems to harness open source for digital public goods and infrastructures. With pilot deployments in Kenya and Trinidad & Tobago, and a growing affiliate network spanning 25 countries, OSEE is creating the first international network of Open Source Program Offices (OSPOs). This session highlights progress, country experiences, and the roadmap toward sustainable, inclusive, and innovative digital transformation.

The OSEE initiative is at the forefront of rethinking digital transformation through open source adoption. By establishing national OSPOs, delivering tailored training programs, and fostering collaboration across regions, OSEE strengthens the capacity of governments, academia, and local innovators to co-create digital public services. This presentation will share milestone achievements, including the launch of OSPOs in Kenya and Trinidad & Tobago, the formation of the OSEE Affiliate Network across 25 countries, and the development of a global framework for sustainability and impact measurement. Attendees will gain insights into how OSEE accelerates digital sovereignty, boosts innovation ecosystems, and supports the global south in achieving long-term resilience and digital inclusion.
