Apps : a free software platform for the French Ministry of Education
Since the 2020 lockdown, significant effort has been made to deploy online collaborative tools for employees of the Ministry of National Education. Apps is an online digital platform offering multiple collaborative tools for 1.2M people, entirely based on free software. We'll explain what choices has been made, how the french administration contribute to the community, and what is the benefit of this choice.
Benoît Piédallu is a digital project manager in the Shared Digital Services division of the Digital Directorate for Education at the French Ministry of Education. He is in charge of the Apps.education.fr platform and the “Webinaire de l’État,” a sovereign and open-source videoconferencing service available to the entire French government.
